latest NFL suspends Detroit Lions’ Jameson Williams for violating the policy

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was one of five players suspended by the NFL on Friday for violating league rules. The NFL has suspended former star player and Alabama teammate Stanley Berryhill for the first six games of the 2023 season.

Detroit’s Quintez Cephus and C.J. Moore and the Washington Commanders’ Shaka Toney were suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games during the 2022 season.

The NFL gave no specific reason for Williams and Berryhill’s suspensions other than gambling violations. The Lions said Williams and Berryhill were suspended for wagering on non-NFL games at an NFL facility.

The NFL Rules of the Game prohibit any member of the league from participating in games of any kind at an NFL club, facility or venue, including a training facility. Alliance Sports, which represents Williams, released a statement on her behalf.

Jameson Williams (born March 26, 2001) is an American football wide receiver for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL).
