BEAR SCARE – Arnold, Ca. While sitting quietly behind a bush attempting to photograph a mama duck and her ducklings, I heard (and felt) a large splash about 8 ft. to my right! I initially thought a large limb had fallen into the water but when I turned to look, the limb had ears!! A large black bear had jumped in for a swim. When he noticed me he quickly swam to the opposite side of the lake. He then came down and sat on a tree overlooking the lake. watched the ducks swim by for awhile then got back into the water and swam to the other shore. seriously wanted nothing to do with me. Such a cool encounter.

’Wow! Salute to you! You were able to take these incredible photos. I had a very close encounter in Yosemite (she was looking over my shoulders as I was unloading the stroller from my car when I suddenly smell a never recognized earthy odor!) lo and behold a Bear! Mama Bear with her 2 cubs trailing behind her. I was so shaken I thought I was about to be attacked. I literally froze!’

Here are more photos from my 4-15-23 expedition to the Carrizo Plain. I was so blessed and happy to see these wonders. The visit put me in mind of an Inuit song—
I think over my small adventures,
My fears,
These small ones that seemed so big.
For all the vital things I had to get and reach.
And yet there is only one great thing,
The only thing.
To live to see the great day that dawns
And the light that fills the world.

I could post a photo a day for a year, and still not show you all the photos I took today at Carrizo Plains National Monument! Incredible beauty there! Here’s a few of my favorites.
Its all about california nature. California is home to some of the most incredible nature spots in the world, from towering mountain ranges, to pristine beaches, to ancient redwood trees. Northern California in particular is beloved for its dramatic rocky beaches and mountainous terrain, making for some magnificent natural spectacles!
